St.
Joseph's staff and the Salesian community, continuing the spirit and
concerns of St. John Bosco, are committed to a ministry of offering
formation opportunities for youth and young adults by helping them to
encounter Jesus, to build community, and to consciously embrace their
baptismal vocation to transform the world through one's daily life.
To assure that the spirit of St. John Bosco
continues through this great work, you can "partner with us" through
various forms of Planned Giving.
WHAT IS PLANNED GIVING?
A Planned Gift guarantees the distribution of your property according to
your wishes, and is an expression of extraordinary commitment to youth
retreat ministry. A Planned Gift is a gift of love that will have a
lasting impact on the ministry of St. Joseph Retreat Center. There are many forms of Planned Giving. Several
examples are listed below. Before making any Planned Gifts, please
consult with your attorney and/or income tax advisor.
CASH GIFTS
Your cash gift, in any amount, given in your lifetime or as a
bequest of your estate, will be graciously accepted. You may choose to
donate to a specific area of St. Joseph Retreat Center or specify that your
gift be used where the need is greatest.
MATCHING GIFTS
Many employers have matching gift programs. Through your payroll
deduction you can double your gift to the St. Joseph Retreat Center. A
matched gift helps you to further the mission of our founder, St. John Bosco.
CHARITABLE GIFT ANNUITIES
The contribution of cash or appreciated assets in exchange for a
Charitable Gift Annuity is another option. Doing so enables you to
receive a significant income during your lifetime while minimizing taxes
as well as benefiting St. Joseph Retreat Center with the gift portion of
the annuity.
GIFTS OF STOCKS, BONDS, and TANGIBLE
ASSETS
This form of Planned Giving allows you to contribute securities,
paid-up life insurance, or other types of property directly to St.
Joseph Retreat Center. If given during your lifetime, you may receive a
deduction based on the current market value on the date of the gift, and
make a difference on your capital gains taxes.
BEQUESTS THROUGH WILLS and TRUSTS
Making your wishes known creating a current, valid Will and/or Trust
is the most important step in planning for your loved ones, and for
those charitable organizations you wish to support, without regard to
the size of your estate.
You alone should decide the
way in which your estate will be distributed. Careful advanced planning
is essential to ensure your wishes are honored. In the absence of a Will
or Trust, the state you live in or the federal government may gain
control of your estate. As you prepare your Will or Trust, be assured
that your gift will perpetuate the future of St. Joseph Retreat
Center.
CHARITABLE TRUSTS
Trusts come in various forms. A Trust can assist you in estate
planning while affording you the opportunity to make a sizable
contribution to St. Joseph Retreat Center.
LIFE INSURANCE POLICY
A paid-up life insurance policy could become a gift to St. Joseph
Retreat Center as well as an income tax deduction for its cash
value.
